SUSTAINABILITY

Energy-Efficient and Sustainable Buildings with THERMOTOP PIR Insulation Boards
In the context of global warming and increasing energy demands, the energy used for heating and cooling buildings has a significant impact on both the environment and climate change. Energy-efficient buildings consume fewer resources, generate lower emissions, and provide a high level of indoor comfort for occupants.
THERMOTOP PIR insulation boards manufactured at the company’s production facility represent one of the most efficient and sustainable thermal insulation solutions available today. Thanks to their advanced thermal performance and long-term dimensional stability, THERMOTOP PIR insulation boards help reduce heat losses through the building envelope and contribute to the development of highly energy-efficient buildings.
What Does Building Energy Efficiency Mean?
Building energy efficiency refers to a building’s ability to provide a high level of thermal comfort while minimizing energy consumption. Thermal insulation plays a critical role in achieving this objective. The use of advanced insulation materials such as THERMOTOP PIR insulation boards significantly improves the overall energy performance of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
Key benefits include:
- Reduced energy consumption for heating and cooling
- Stable indoor temperatures throughout the year
- Lower operating and maintenance costs
- Reduced indirect CO₂ emissions
- Extended building service life

THERMOTOP PIR Insulation Boards – High Thermal Performance with Reduced Thickness
The thermal performance of insulation materials directly affects the overall energy efficiency of a building. Using durable insulation materials with stable long-term properties significantly reduces heat loss through walls, roofs, and floors.
THERMOTOP PIR insulation boards provide outstanding thermal resistance even at reduced thicknesses, contributing to:
- Optimized interior space utilization
- Reduced structural loads in industrial applications through THERMOTOP Roof System solutions
- Improved overall building energy efficiency
- Increased thermal performance with minimal insulation thickness
Due to their low thermal conductivity and excellent insulating properties, THERMOTOP PIR insulation boards enable designers and contractors to achieve high-performance building envelopes while maintaining slim construction assemblies.
Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) – Transparency Based on Real Manufacturing Data
THERMOTOP products are supported by an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), a standardized document that assesses environmental impact based on a complete Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
The EPD provides transparent and reliable information regarding environmental performance, using real production data collected directly from the manufacturing process and developed in accordance with European standards and methodologies.
This documentation supports sustainable construction practices and helps projects meet environmental certification requirements.

Local Manufacturing and Efficient Resource Management
THERMOTOP PIR insulation boards are manufactured in Romania, at the company’s modern production facility located in Ghimbav, Brașov, using advanced technologies and highly automated production processes.
The manufacturing process is:
- Continuously controlled and monitored
- Optimized for operational efficiency and sustainability
- Conducted in compliance with environmental and safety requirements
Local manufacturing contributes to:
- Reduced transportation impact on the final product cost
- Lower fuel consumption and reduced CO₂ emissions
- Faster delivery times for projects in Romania and South-Eastern Europe
- Better supply chain efficiency and project flexibility
Suitable for High-Performance Construction and Energy Renovation Projects
THERMOTOP PIR insulation boards are widely used in construction and thermal renovation projects focused on achieving high levels of energy efficiency. The solutions can be integrated into buildings designed to comply with international sustainability and energy performance standards such as nZEB, BREEAM, LEED, and Passive House.
BREEAM
Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) is a leading European sustainability assessment method for buildings. It evaluates environmental impact, energy efficiency, material selection, resource management, and occupant comfort throughout the entire building lifecycle.
LEED
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is an internationally recognized green building certification system that assesses energy performance, resource consumption, carbon emissions, and indoor environmental quality.
nZEB
Nearly Zero Energy Building (nZEB) is the European standard for buildings with very low energy demand. These buildings require minimal energy for operation, with most of the required energy generated from renewable sources.
Passive House
The Passive House standard defines buildings with extremely low heating and cooling energy demand. The concept is based on high-performance thermal insulation, superior airtightness, elimination of thermal bridges, and controlled ventilation systems with heat recovery.
By integrating THERMOTOP PIR insulation boards into the building envelope, designers and developers can achieve advanced thermal performance, long-term energy savings, and sustainable building operation.
